Dude you are so UGLI.. fruit, that is.

Yesterday when I went grocery shopping (to the most immaculate Stop and shop I've ever been to!) they had UGLI fruit. I've seen these strange, odd shaped, wrinkled orange-y looking fruits in the store before, but I've never actually had one before. I've been wanting to make a fruit salad for a long time so I went ahead and got a bunch of fruit. Cherries were on sale, so that was a huge score for me, I can't even remember the last time I bought Cherries! I got a bunch of bananas, one big old UGLI fruit (which, turns out it's a Jamaican Tangelo) and strawberries.

I wasn't sure what to expect with the UGLI, but lemme tell y'all that it is so incredible and delicious that if you have the chance to get one.. Try it.. one Caveat.. the membrane around the segments is very papery, so as I segmented the ugli I peeled the membrane off on each side and it's perfect.

This is the Ugli:

This is how much juice came out of it just while I was segmenting it

I sliced up 2 bananas, 5 strawberries, a handful of cherries and added to the Ugli in the bowl along with 1 Tbs of Honey. Now, I usually add about 1/2 cup of Greek Yogurt to this, but I forgot to pick up the yogurt.. It was still delicious though :)

This is the final Fruit Salad.. YUMMMMY!!

Wow - that is UGLI, haha. I've never seen that fruit before but I don't shop at stop&shop (expensive for my budget). However, I will def. ponder stopping buy to try that. I love trying new things!

Buying random crazy looking fruit is my hobby! I especially like the ones that you can't figure out how to peel. I will keep my eyes open for that one next time!
